This year was a special year for the club which merited a special Anniversary Ball. To ensure its place in history the club decided to utilise our influence in making this a charity ball and selected Accord hospice as a suitable and well-merited receiver of the charity gains. The ball returned to the Glynhill hotel with the addition this year of a 90th-anniversary gallery featuring photographs throughout the years

Our Guests this year included the Ken Mathie of Accord Hospice, who took his place at the top table and informed us of the great work which Accord does in the Paisley community. We also welcomed Head Girl Heather Gibson and Head Boy Ross Lawrence along with current students and a table of current Paisley Grammar Staff.

President Faye Carruthers welcomed all the guests, and Vice-President Ross Brisco recited the School Prayer as Grace. After the meal, we enjoyed a lively Ceilidh led by Amy Ferguson to ensure everyone was informed of the dance moves. DJ Tam was a great addition this year getting everyone up for a music selection for all generations. The Raffle took place this year with a twist. Our main raffle was for our usual selection of gifts and experiences donated by Old Grammarians and Local paisley businesses. Our second raffle was to win a special prize of a table for 10 at an Accord hospice event donated by themselves. And of course, our traditional coin-rolling took place. In all, the club was able to donate over £1000 to Accord hospice and we thank all who attended on the night to make that possible. The generosity of our members is overwhelming and from all on the committee, we thank you for your continued support of the club which we cannot run without.

There was a good cross-section of ages from Sixth Year to the more ‘mature’. We were delighted to welcome recent school leavers and a selection of 70’s and 80’s leavers. The night ended in our traditional way with an energetic version of ‘Auld Lang Syne’. We look forward to next year and the provisional date to keep in your diaries is Friday 1st March 2019 in the Glynhill hotel.
